Data Overview

Dropbox doesn't expose predefined entities or metrics — instead, you control exactly which files and sheets to import. Coupler.io reads the data as-is from your CSV or Excel files.

What data can you import?

Columns and rows from your spreadsheet — Coupler.io imports whatever columns and rows exist in the sheet(s) you select. Headers become column names, and each row becomes a record.

Multiple sheets at once — If you select more than one sheet from a file (or from multiple files), all data is automatically appended together into a single table in your destination. This is useful when you have data split across monthly sheets, different categories, or separate files.

Custom ranges — You can limit imports to a specific range (e.g., A1:Z50) if you only need part of the sheet.

Common use cases

  • Consolidate data from multiple Excel files — Pull data from 10 different Dropbox files into one Google Sheet

  • Sync live data — Refresh your Google Sheet daily from an Excel file your team updates in Dropbox

  • Append monthly data — Import data from 12 monthly sheets into one master sheet for annual reporting

  • Feed AI analysis — Send Dropbox spreadsheet data to Claude or ChatGPT for insights, summaries, or processing

  • Archive to data warehouse — Automatically load Dropbox files into BigQuery for long-term storage and analysis

Pull campaign performance data from Dropbox-stored Excel files into Google Sheets for real-time dashboards. Combine data from multiple regional files into one master sheet, then connect to Looker Studio for visualization. Use Append transformation to merge monthly reports into a single view.

Platform-specific notes

  • Dropbox file picker — If you can't see your file in the file picker, you may need to switch Dropbox accounts in your browser before connecting. Once you've authorized the correct account, refresh the file picker.

  • Excel formulas — Coupler.io imports cell values, not formulas. If your Excel file contains formulas, you'll see the calculated results, not the formula text.

  • Images and embedded content — Images, charts, and other embedded objects in your spreadsheet are not imported — only text and numeric data is extracted.

  • File comments — Dropbox file comments are not supported; only the spreadsheet content itself is imported.

  • Large files — Files over a certain size may take longer to process. If you're importing hundreds of thousands of rows, consider splitting into multiple smaller data flows or using a data warehouse like BigQuery as your destination.
